About the ArtistJanice began a serious interest in photography while attending University in Wales, where a group of friends introduced her to real cameras rather than box brownies and she suddenly realized what kind of images she could create once she had the right tools. Before long she was pointing her camera more at plants, gardenscapes and landscapes than at her friends (much to their annoyance) and having discovered the University dark room spent more time in the dark than the light. After graduating with a degree in Zoology, photography was again put to use when she worked on an underwater survey to establish the first marine park in United Kingdom. Later she moved to America and eager to increase her photo knowledge enrolled in the New York Institute of Photography. Even before graduation she was producing fine floral images and visiting gardens across the world to capture their beauty. "I love to capture nature, to help other people see what I can see," Janice says. "There is so much beauty right in front of us that often goes totally unnoticed unless someone captures the image for others to see. Thats what I like to do, to make people aware of the beauty of plants, gardens and landscapes that they might otherwise overlook". Winner of several photo competitions Janice now exhibits her work at shows around the Northeastern United states and in occasional galleries. She continues to travel and capture images of plants wherever she goes. |
